This object from the Michael C. Carlos Museum is a low-fire ceramic figurine. It had prior repairs that were removed and replaced. UV-Vis analysis suggested the presence of a proteinaceous adhesive and shellac. A sample of adhesive was taken from the object's proper left ear and tested with several solvents. Acetone proved to be the most effective, and removal of the old adhesive was carried out using acetone and cotton swabs. The new repairs were made with B-72 Paraloid. Once the ears and tail tip were readhered, the gaps were filled with Flügger and inpainted with Golden fluid acrylics. Images are ordered from pre-treatment to during treatment to after treatment.
