Textile stabilizing and mounting

A crochet lace doily which had to be humidified, flattened, stabilized, and mounted for exhibition. Flattening was achieved through a humidification chamber using water vapor. The doily was placed on top of a dampened sheet of blotter with Hollytex interleaving and beneath another sheet of blotter, and weights were added on top to flatten several creases. After this, the doily was tacked to a wooden frame with a canvas backing using cotton thread. A loose stitch was stabilized with a tack as well.
